Oracle Utilities

Oracle Utilities Migration and Assurance

Oracle’s utility stack, customer care and billing, is proven at scale and deeply featured, and the migration onto it is where the risk sits. We give utilities independent, client side help to plan, run, assure or recover an Oracle Utilities programme, from a team with real Oracle delivery behind it.

About Oracle Utilities, and who runs it

Oracle’s customer care and billing suite is the established alternative to SAP in the same mould: proven at scale, deeply featured, usually integrator delivered, and operationally similar in what it asks of you. Choosing between Oracle and SAP is largely choosing between ecosystems rather than operating models. See how both compare with Kraken in our independent platform comparison.

Two ways to work with us

Assurance, full integration, or both

Migration is only part of what we do on Oracle Utilities. Our work comes in two parts.

Part A: assurance

We sit on your side of the table while the vendor and your integrator deliver: we test readiness and the plan, assure each stage gate and the go live decision, and check that data and billing reconcile.

Part B: full integration

Or we run it end to end: we lead the programme and integrate Oracle Utilities with the systems around it, from meter data and payments to finance and CRM, then take the migration, testing, cutover and hypercare through to a stable service.

Start with assurance, go further

Assurance is a low risk way to start. If you then want us to take on the integration, the team that assured the work is the team that delivers it.

Why PEF

Real Oracle delivery, with no Oracle to sell

We have delivered Oracle programmes across energy and utilities, including the Oracle estate on the National Grid separation and the Oracle to Microsoft Dynamics migration on BP Pulse that completed 39 days ahead of forecast. We are independent of Oracle, so we will tell you honestly whether Oracle Utilities is the right destination and then hold the plan, the data and the cutover to a standard.

FAQ

Questions we are asked

Oracle or SAP for our utility?

Largely a choice of ecosystem rather than operating model, and we help you make it on the evidence of your data, your estate and your people, not on a vendor pitch. See our platform comparison.

Can you assure an Oracle programme our integrator is running?

Yes. We often sit alongside the integrator, working for you alone, holding the plan, the data and the cutover to account so the risk does not land on you.

Are you tied to any platform vendor?

No. We are completely independent, with no reseller agreements and no commissions. Our only interest is the platform that fits you and a migration that lands cleanly.

Can you recover a migration that is already in trouble?

Yes. We come in to assure, stabilise or recover a programme already under way, reasserting client side control and a safe path to go live.

Who actually does the work?

Senior people who have led and recovered platform migrations at national scale, backed by a bench of specialists.
