People and Change

The people side of change, taken as seriously as the technology, so the new way of working actually sticks rather than fading after go live.

Talk to us

PEF Consulting Partners helps organisations change how they work, not just what systems they run. Our leadership has led change across a global programme of nine hundred contractors and supported E.ON Next through the operating model shift that comes with the Kraken platform, where new ways of working matter more than the technology.

Every failed system implementation we have been asked to review was, underneath, a people problem. The technology worked. The organisation did not change around it. People and change is the discipline of making sure the way people work actually shifts, and stays shifted after the programme team has gone.

Where we help

Change strategy and adoption

Impact assessment by role, a communications and engagement approach that treats people as adults, training built around the job rather than the software, and adoption measurement that continues after go live.

Organisational design

Structure, roles, accountabilities and spans of control designed to support the new operating model rather than preserve the old one.

Workforce transition

Consultation, redeployment, capability mapping and the practical handling of change that affects people’s jobs, done properly and with care.

Leadership alignment

Getting the leadership group to a genuinely shared position on what is changing and why, before it is communicated. Most change communication fails because the leadership team was never actually aligned.

Capability building

Leaving the organisation able to run change itself. Standards, tooling, coaching and internal practitioners.

Frequently asked questions

When should change management start?

At business case, not at build. By the time a system is being configured, most of the decisions that determine whether people accept it have already been made.

How do you measure adoption?

Through usage data, process compliance, error and workaround rates, and the operational KPIs the change was meant to improve. Sentiment surveys are useful context but they are not evidence.

What does a change management consultant do?

A change management consultant helps people adopt a new way of working: assessing the impact on each team, planning communication and training, building sponsorship and measuring adoption, so the benefits of a programme are actually realised.

Is business change consultancy different from change management?

Business change consultancy covers the wider redesign of processes, roles and the operating model; change management is the people side of making that change stick. We do both, together.

Making a change stick?

Most programmes fail on adoption, not design. We build the people change in from the start so the new way of working lasts.
